Writing Prompts 21


Tis the season for pumpkin spice… everything. Here’s some writing prompts to enjoy with your favorite seasonal treats.

  1. A garbage collector finds something odd in his latest load — a boy locked in a trunk. The boy is alive. How did he get in the trunk? Why was he out with the garbage?
  2. Being the press secretary for the president (or some other ruler) is a thankless job. Between insults from reporters to grief from his boss, it’s a lot to bear. When and how does our press secretary snap?
  3. A wealthy businessman has many enemies. How far will these enemies go to satisfy their grudges?
  4. Write your own human vs. nature story that takes place entirely outdoors.
  5. A drifter arrives in town, prophesying doom and destruction on the inhabitants. Do any of the townsfolk believe the drifter? What about after prophecies start coming true?
