Writing Prompts 60

I think Old Man Winter is being a procrastinator this season. It’s February, and my neighborhood is finally getting substantial snow. I’m trying to not follow his example by posting this month’s writing prompts on time.

  1. Write about a soothsayer whose prophecies always come true. Not through luck or mastery of divination, but through manipulating the forces of destiny itself.
  2. A truth-seeker digs into a decaying and potentially corrupt organization: a political faction, religious cult, business, etc. Eventually, the seeker digs too deep, and the organization threatens his life. Is this where the seeker’s investigation ends? What is the organization hiding?
  3. A brave knight slays the greedy dragon. What does the knight do with the dragon’s hoard of treasure?
  4. The central character of this story continues to live like a captive long after his captors have been defeated. What does it take for this man to finally realize he’s truly free?
  5. Write about a merchant dominating a market and her company’s rise toward monopoly. For an extra challenge, make the merchant your protagonist.

If you use any of these prompts, please share your story or a link to your story in the comments below.
