Idea You Can Steal 96: Hunt for the Relic

Thanksgiving is nearly here, and my family is hosting this year. Things are about to get very busy, so you may not hear from me for a couple of weeks. But before I go, here’s a story idea for your muse to savor.

The main character once vowed to retrieve a mystic or holy relic from a far-off land. But at this point in the story, he’s run into yet another dead end. All of his leads have dried up, and all the trails he’s been following have grown cold.

Feeling a mixture of negative emotions, the main character returns home. He soon meets with another man — his best friend. The friend tells the main character about something that happened to him in the past. The friend’s memory contains useful yet complicating information about the relic the main character is seeking. Perhaps the mystic relic is cursed. Maybe the holy relic isn’t as powerful as everyone believes. What does the main character do with this information? Will he forsake his vow (and suffer the consequences of doing so), or will he continue the search?
