A charlatan has weaseled his way into the king’s court offering divinations and dream interpretation. The charlatan is able to fool everyone but a single low-ranking noblewoman who practices true magic in secret. Using mundane and magical methods, the noblewoman discreetly digs into the charlatan’s past. Along the way, she discovers his sinister motives for infiltrating the king’s court. Bonus points if his end goal doesn’t involve seizing political power for himself.
The fraud must be exposed. Yet the noblewoman faces significant social and/or political risk if she reveals her magical abilities. How does she do what she knows is right while keeping her head?
